Privacy Policy
TripTrigger, LLC · Effective September 16, 2026
TripTrigger, LLC (“TripTrigger,” “we,” “us”) is a California limited liability company that operates the TripTrigger travel-incident coordination app. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we will and will not do with it.
We built this app for the worst moment of someone’s trip. The information it holds is sensitive by nature, and we treat it that way.
Mobile information and text messages
TripTrigger sends text messages to deliver travel-incident alerts. Phone numbers are collected inside the app by an account holder who confirms they have the recipient’s permission, and are used only to deliver the messages described in our SMS Terms and Conditions.
No mobile information will be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party for those purposes.
Phone numbers are shared only with the messaging provider that transmits the message on our behalf, solely so the message can be delivered. You can stop receiving messages at any time by replying STOP.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, name, phone number, and mailing address.
- Traveler profiles — the name, date of birth, phone number, email address, and optional photo of each person on a trip.
- Health information — allergies and current medications, only when entered and only with consent. See the section below.
- Emergency contacts — the name, phone number, email address, and relationship of the people a traveler designates.
- Trip and incident data — destinations and dates, incident timelines, tasks, and expenses.
- Documents you upload — such as passports, identification, insurance cards, and receipts. These are stored privately and are never publicly accessible.
- Insurance information — policy details you enter or upload, including carrier, policy numbers, and coverage terms.
- Device tokens — if you install the mobile app and enable notifications, an identifier used to deliver push notifications to your device.
Health information
TripTrigger collects allergies and current medications, and nothing more — no diagnoses, no blood type, no biometric data, no broader medical history. This information is collected only with affirmative, opt-in consent given at the moment it is entered, and consent can be withdrawn at any time from the app.
It is used for one purpose: helping the right people act during a travel incident. It is shown to the emergency contacts a traveler named, and to hospital staff on a clinical screen shown by whoever is physically present during an active incident. It is never used for advertising or profiling, and is never sold or shared with advertisers or data brokers.
How we use information
- To notify a traveler’s designated contacts when an incident is reported, and when it is resolved.
- To show the people coordinating an incident the information they need to act on it.
- To operate your account — signing in, managing trips and travelers, and storing your documents.
- To provide customer support when you contact us.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it to market to you or anyone you have added.
How we share information
We share personal information only in these situations:
- With the people you designate. Incident information is shared with the emergency contacts and trip companions a traveler has added, which is the entire purpose of the app.
- With service providers who operate our infrastructure — cloud hosting, database storage, file storage, and message delivery — strictly so they can provide that service to us. They may not use your information for their own purposes.
- When required by law, such as in response to a valid legal process.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the app. When you do, your account is deactivated immediately and everything is permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period, during which you can change your mind by logging back in.
After that window, your trips, travelers, documents, and health information are permanently erased. We may retain limited records where we are legally required to do so.
Your choices and rights
- Text messages — reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them.
- Health information — review, correct, or delete it from a traveler’s profile, or withdraw consent at any time.
- Access and deletion — view your information in the app, or delete your account as described above.
- Requests to us — email hello@triptrigger.travel. We respond to requests we must handle manually within 45 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or Washington’s My Health My Data Act. We honor these rights for all users regardless of location.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Uploaded documents are held in private storage that is never publicly readable, and are retrieved only through short-lived, access-controlled links. No system is perfectly secure, but we deliberately collect as little as the app can function with — the smaller the record, the smaller the risk.
Children
TripTrigger accounts are for adults. A traveler on a trip may be a minor, in which case their information is entered and managed by the responsible adult who holds the account. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create their own account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
